OSINT CTFs
OSINT CTFs (Capture The Flag games) let you hone your skills through problem-solving games. I especially like those that educate you throughout the CTF, providing tools and techniques. Here are a few OSINT CTFs. Please let me know if you recommend others!
Be aware that the older an OSINT CTF is, the more likely it is that some questions will no longer be solvable, as data that was available when the CTF was created may no longer be available. I’ve noted a few caveats below.
- Sector035’s 2020 OSINT Quiz
- Sector035’s 2019 OSINT Quiz. Note: The data needed for Q 20 is no longer available online. I didn’t make it past Q 23, so I don’t know if data is missing for that question or later ones.
- Cyber Investigator CTF by the Cyber Society at Cardiff University
- Cyber Detective CTF by the Cyber Society at Cardiff University. Note: In the “Life Online” challenges, the data needed for last question (“leaveamessage”) is no longer available online. In the “Evidence Investigation” challenges, the tool recommended for the question “inplainsight” is no longer available online, and I couldn’t find a working alternative.
- The Insider Threat CTF by BushidoToken
- Sourcing.Games. Note: The first 2 games are easy, but they get more difficult.
