These are the resources that were most helpful in studying for the CompTIA Security+ certification. I didn’t spend any money on them, because they were freely available directly or through my library (via O’Reilly for Public Libraries, Skillsoft Books24x7, or LinkedIn Learning).

Text Resources for Studying for Security+

• CompTIA Security+Certification Exam Objectives. Official list of concepts to know. I linked Version 3.0 for SY0–601; you can always get the latest version from CompTIA.
• Mike Meyers’ CompTIA Security+ Certification Guide, Third Edition. Engaging, with humor, illustrations, and examples. Each chapter ends with 10 practice questions, and gives the answers. Includes helpful exam tips. An appendix lists all the exam objectives and tells which pages address them, and the glossary is extensive.
• CompTIA Security+ All-in-One Exam Guide, Sixth Edition (Exam SY0–601). Each chapter ends with 10 questions. The “exam tip” boxes helpfully point out concepts to remember for the exam.
• CompTIA Security+ SY0–601 Exam Cram. Each chapter ends with ~5 questions.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification Practice Exams, Fourth Edition. 21 chapters with about 32 questions per chapter. Includes correct answers, and explains why they’re correct and other options are incorrect.
